Things You Need To Know Before Getting Eyelash Extensions

eyelash extensions

Lash extensions are a way to can add thickness and length to lashes that aren’t as lush, dark or long as you currently want them to be. Professionals apply false lashes–typically one at a time for the most natural look–to your lash line using an adhesive that is safe for the eye area.

There are hundreds if not thousands of salons across the country that offer eyelash extensions as a service. A quick Yelp or Google search should find you somebody in your city or a nearby one. You should always check their credentials prior to having the procedure done, just as you would for a haircut–except with eyelash extensions, there’s a lot more danger of negative health effects should you go to a person who isn’t properly trained (you should be looking for an esthetician or cosmetologist). Additionally, make sure you read reviews of both that salon and the individual pro performing on you. If there is an indication that the location isn’t 100% sanitary, safe and professional, find another one.

Theoretically, it is possible if you are a trained professional, but that doesn’t mean you should do your own. Being that close to your eyeball with various tools isn’t necessarily a great idea if you are not highly experienced, and even then, it can be dangerous. If you’re thinking of DIYing you lash extensions, perhaps just try wearing a pair of great false lashes or a bunch of individual fake lashes with a high-quality lash glue.

Prices range, but it is safe to say that you should be wary of a seedy salon that offers lash extensions for $10. While these do not need to cost hundreds of dollars to look great, you are paying for both the materials and the time it takes for the pro to apply them properly. Make sure that whatever salon you go to, they are reputable and either have a certified esthetician or cosmetologist doing the extensions.

No. Your natural lashes fall out every 60-90 days but we do not notice when they fall out quite as much because there’s already a new lash growing behind it. False lashes are often thicker and longer than your natural lashes, so when they fall out, you may wind up noticing it more. With lash extensions that are adhered to your natural lashes, they can fall out anywhere from a week to a couple months down the road.  You will need to get them replaced every 2 to 3 weeks.

Lash extensions come in a variety of materials. The most common are made out of silk and mink, and can range in length from short to very long.

You but the brush could potentially pull on your lashes and cause them to be damaged, loosened, or removed. Additionally, you should avoid waterproof mascara and should only apply mascara at the tips of lashes. Plus, you may find you don’t need any at all once you’ve got these!

It is generally not a painful procedure, but some people have negative reactions to materials involved. If you experience any burning, pain or discomfort, let the professional know immediately. Your technician should be trained in dealing with this potential issue.

When you remove your makeup, just be extremely careful and do your best to avoid touching the lashes. Use a gentle eye makeup remover with a cleansing wipe rather than cotton balls or Q-tips, can result in fibers being caught on your extensions. Do not use an oil-based makeup remover, as oil-based products can affect the glue negatively.

There are a that can rule out eyelash extensions as a possibility. If you do not have eyelashes already, it is very difficult (if not impossible) for the professional to apply the extensions because there is nowhere to put them. If you have very curly eyelashes, your lash extensions might actually fall off in only three days, so it’s not even worth it to get them. If you tend to rub your eyes a lot–even in your sleep–then you should probably not get extensions.

Yes, but your eyes may get irritated after a while of having them shut if your contacts are still in. If they have a tendency to get dry, just make sure you bring a contact case with you so you can take them out as your have the extensions done, then pop them back it afterward.

Try to sleep on your back! I know this is difficult for those who are accustomed to being side (or even face) sleepers but it can help your lashes avoid getting pulled or prodded. Also, even if you really love feeling that lengthy, lovely, lush set of new lashes all up on your fingertips, resist the urge to touch them anyway. You should be careful whilst washing your face to avoid tugging or pushing on them, as well.

I strongly recommend going to a professional to have your eyelash extensions removed, as they are trained in the process and know how to do it properly without damaging your own lashes or pulling the natural ones out along with the fake ones.

Microblading is a relatively new, manual method. It is considered to be semi-permanent, as compared to the traditional hair stroke technique. It is done using a very fine blade to deposit pigments into the epidermis. Because we’re impacting color closer to the surface, the strokes appear crisp and very fine.

This method is ideal for anyone wanting to enhance the look of their eyebrows. The results are natural looking, hair-like strokes, regardless of the amount of hair present. People suffering from alopecia or any other condition that causes hair loss benefit greatly from Microblading, as well as people who simply aren’t happy with their eyebrows.

The pigments used in this method have been formulated to match your original eyebrow color, and if the eyebrows are still present, blend perfectly into them. The results are a natural, flawless, fuller-looking brow. Initially, the brows appear darker but fade significantly over a two week period. It is absolutely crucial to have a touch up done, as it is very difficult to predict how well the skin will retain the pigment.

This form of eyebrow style does not include any hair like strokes to mimic the look of natural brow hair. Instead this technique requires complete shading of the brow, from the head to the tail. The ombre/powder brow can be compared to brows when filled in with makeup. The head starts out light and gradually fades darker all the way to the end of the tail. This style is for those looking for a fierce and sharp look.

It is extremely likely. Within the first two weeks of the initial procedure the color fades as much as 30-40% and the eyebrow might look patchy and uneven. After this period, typically between 4-8 weeks, a follow-up appointment is done. The touch-up procedure is much less time consuming as the initial one. As well, any changes you would like to make may be discussed.

The results can last anywhere from 1 to 3 years. Many factors can affect this time frame, such as the clients type of skin, proper care of the brows after the procedure, and many others. It is recommended to have a touch-up procedure done annually to retain the proper shape and saturation of pigment

We have received various reviews on pain of the procedure. Everyone acquires a different level of sensitivity, so it is impossible to give a direct answer. A topical anesthetic is always applied prior and throughout the treatment, this will alleviate any sensation or discomfort. Some clients may even feel more sensitive with one brow than the other. You will hear a scratch like noise during the procedure, this is normal and nothing to be concerned about.

Music is usually played during the procedure, however feel free to bring your own ear phones and music to listen to.

Absolutely! We only use sterilized, disposable needles and supplies.

You won’t be swollen, you just might have slightly red skin around eyebrows.

Most likely. Within a week of your first treatment, the color will fade significantly and over the next four to six weeks can continue to fade as much as 50%. This is considered an extremely positive occurrence as it allows you time to reflect on your shape and color. After this period your follow-up appointment is carried out. At this point any changes you would like to make are discussed.

The procedure lasts roughly two hours but may be longer or shorter. Please allow a solid 3-hour window for your appointment. It likely will not require that much time but is not something that can be rushed.

No, you do not. Clients may resume normal activity directly following the procedure. Redness will alleviate in 1-2 days. Eyebrows will appear darker initially, but not so dark that you will be prevented from normal activities.

Healing time varies from individual to individual. Usually, it takes about a 7-10 days for the epithelial crust to form and slough off. Your skin will be considered healed after that happens. The pigment will then take some time to settle into the skin, a good month should pass before the procedure is considered complete.

This semi-permanent makeup is a two-step treatment, consisting of an initial procedure and a touch up, between 4 to 6 weeks after. After taking a before photo, the brow design is drawn with a pencil, to give the client an idea of shape and form. (Please note that majority of faces are not completely symmetrical. Eyebrows are not meant to be identical and it is impossible to attain this look even with natural brow hair. It is also not possible to match a photo of your favorite celebrities’ eyebrows when you may have an entirely different face shape.) Once both the microblading artist and client have agreed on a final shape (ultimately it is the clients decision – but the artist may make recommendations based on their knowledge of what suits a person aesthetically), I will shape your eyebrows then we will decide on the color. Shortly after that, a topical anesthetic will be administered to ensure comfort. Once you’re numb, the pigment is deposited. During the healing process, it is normal to experience some pigment loss; this is why a touch up is done.

You are advised to keep the skin clean and dry – that means no swimming, sweating, getting the area wet, no tanning, no having prolonged sun exposure, no picking, peeling, scratching or rubbing the tattoo. These may attribute to loss of color and scarring. Washing your hair and face may still be done, as long as the brows are not completely submerged in water. Once they have healed up entirely, you are free to treat them as your own.

Eyebrows will remain beautiful and last much longer if sun block is applied regularly and any abrasive facial treatments on the brow area are avoided.

The color will mimic your natural brow hair as best as possible, unless a different color is desired.

Unfortunately, we do not work over another artist’s work. Exceptions may be if the color is invisible or has been removed completely

No. Every attempt is made to retain all-natural eyebrow hair and integrate the semi-permanent design as naturally as possible. In some cases, where shaping of the natural brow is required, a few hairs here and there may need to be removed to create a clean and aesthetically pleasing result.

In these circumstances, a third appointment is often set up so the brow artist can review the work and sort out possible tweaks, (if any) that may need to be done. Often times, a client will cancel this appointment as the brows will just take a little extra time forming to the finished look. However, there are the occasional few that may need one or two extra strokes to finish off the look. The skin may react in a way to try and push out the foreign body of pigment by producing an extreme scab, which eventually will fall off, taking all the pigment with it. A condition of Pigment Allergy or PPD (paraphenylenediamine) can cause an adverse reaction from the dye as well as any Auto Immune diseases, which the client may not even be aware of. The skin would have over reacted and become super sensitive to the pigment and reject it at any cost.

Unfortunately, we cannot. It is impossible to predict how the skin will react in each individual and many factors are taken into consideration; skin type, age, scarring, diet, stress levels, facial products used, etc. These all play a key role in how the pigment will hold, which is why it is crucial to know that more than one touch up may be required.

We treat our client’s brows as our own and offer the best possible treatment as we can. Using our experience and expertise to give the absolute best outcome possible. We guarantee to strive for complete satisfaction in the design of your brows every time. Again, reiterating that there are no guarantees in this industry. Please carefully take into account all aspects of the process and decide carefully if having your eyebrows microbladed is right for you.

Although Microblading is considered to be semi-permanent, the procedure does allow flexibility for color or shape change to some extent. However, we will work closely with you to ensure your satisfaction with the proposed technique. We always allow for you to have as much control over the procedure as possible, so there is very little room for error. If you are unhappy with your original decision, the touch up may be cancelled and the pigmented area will naturally fade away over time. If you are not 100% sure you would benefit from this procedure, please opt for a more temporary option.
